(b) United Rentals, Inc. (the “Company”) announced today that Bradley S. Jacobs, chairman of its board of directors, plans to step down as chairman and director, effective August 31, 2007. Mr. Jacobs also will no longer serve as chairman or a director of the Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, United Rentals (North America), Inc. A copy of the Company’s press release, dated August 30, 2007, with respect to Mr. Jacobs is being furnished with this report as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
