Item 2.02 Results of Operations and Financial Condition.
On April 23, 2007, Arch Coal, Inc. issued a press release containing its first quarter 2007
financial results and providing guidance on its 2007 forecasted results. A copy of the press
release is attached hereto as exhibit 99.1.
