Item 8.01 Other Events.
On October 20, 2014, the jury returned a verdict against Trinity Industries, Inc. and Trinity Highway Products, LLC (together, the "Company") in a False Claims Act case filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division. The case was styled Joshua Harman, on behalf of the United States of America, Plaintiff/Relator v. Trinity Industries, Inc., Defendant, Case 2:12-cv-00089-JRG. The jury awarded $175 million in damages, which is to be trebled under the False Claims Act. Civil penalties and any assessment of attorney fees will be determined at a later date. The Company intends to vigorously pursue its appellate rights if a judgment is entered against the Company.
