Texas Medicare Plan Releases Guide on Medicare and Gym Memberships

Medicare insurance broker Texas Medicare Plan (TMP) has uploaded a new blog addressing Texas Medicare plans and gym memberships: https://texasmedicareplan.com/do-texas-medicare-plans-cover-gym-memberships-silversneakers/. Many Medicare beneficiaries hope to find a Medicare plan that includes a gym membership or at least discounted prices. However, Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover gym memberships, meaning Medicare Supplement plans won’t either in most cases.

Fortunately, Medicare Advantage plans are different. Advantage plans allow people to receive their Part A and Part B benefits through a private insurance carrier instead of the federal government. These plans can offer additional benefits not covered under Original Medicare, including gym benefits and the SilverSneakers program. However, TMP reminds people that Advantage plan carriers can change their benefits each year, so it might not be wise to choose an Advantage plan just for the additional benefits.

Finding the right Medicare plan that meets someone’s needs and wants can be challenging without guidance. There are many factors to consider, including monthly premiums, medications, someone’s lifestyle, and more. So, it’s helpful to work with a credible Medicare insurance broker like Texas Medicare Plan to make the process easier.
