DISA Awards $170 Million Processor Capacity IDIQ to ViON

ViON Corporation, a cloud service provider and market leader in the design, delivery and maintenance of mission-critical IT infrastructure solutions, announced today that it has been awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite–quantity (IDIQ), firm-fixed–price-contract for processor capacity services by the Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The contract is for five years with five one-year options years and has a contract ceiling of $170,898,096. Under terms of the agreement, ViON will deliver System P chip sets to DISA facilities or other locations where the agency may assume an operational responsibility.

This new contract will allow DISA to use IBM Power Systems scale-out servers in an “on-demand” approach to provide enterprise class security, availability and reliability for mission critical workloads at the Department of Defense (DoD). The latest IBM Power Systems have various configurations that include enhanced virtualization, cloud support and AI. DISA’s goal with this contract is to obtain a dynamically scalable processing capability utilizing an on-demand service approach that will readily adjust to changes in processing and throughput requirements – both increases and decreases – and is priced on a utility (“as used”) basis.
