Outstanding Exhibit of Dog Artwork Including "Itsy Bitsy Spider" on Display at Local Haltom City Museum

DFW Elite Toy Museum Running Dog Exhibit Through September 30th

FORT WORTH, TX, August 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What do you get when you combine an art display with a love of dogs?

The answer to that riddle is "It's A Dog's Life," an exhibit and celebration of dogs currently on display at the DFW Elite Toy Museum at 5940 Eden in Haltom City. Besides art, visitors will find dog antiques, dog collectibles, and dog toys, all under one roof, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you love dogs, then you'll love "It's A Dog's Life." Guaranteed!

The owner of the museum, local businessman Ron Sturgeon, tells us why.

"There are very few people in this country who don't have fond memories of having a dog. I'd venture to guess at least 50%, probably more like 75% of the citizens in this country have great memories of man's best friend. That's why this exhibit is so popular and will remain popular until it closes on September 30th. Everyone can relate!"

The selection of dog paintings dates back to the Victorian Period and features some of the greatest animal painters in Europe and the United States. A sampling of the paintings on display includes:

• "Lunch Time" by Edward Charles Barnes
• "Two Peaks" by Kate Rashleigh
• "Defense of the Realm" by John Hayes
• "Trapped" by Edwin Armfield
• "Why Don't You Take It" by Currier & Ives
• And, of course, "Itsy Bitsy Spider" by Thomas J. Hill.

Thomas J. Hill was born in England but eventually moved to the United States where he gained a considerable reputation for his landscape paintings, most notably those depicting the California landscape, in particular the Yosemite Valley. His painting "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is an anomaly of sorts, one of the few he did with a single animal as the subject. It is a simple portrait of a dog and a whimsical spider suspended in midair.

The exhibit is free to the public (and yes, dogs are welcome) and will run through September 30, 2018.

"Come one, come all," Sturgeon continues. "This exhibit is a labor of love. The antiques, the collectibles, the toys and pieces of art, they are all here for the public to enjoy. I would love to see entire families come together and bask in the feel-good atmosphere. Who knows, maybe this exhibit will inspire some families to raise their own puppies and form new memories and traditions."

ABOUT DFW ELITE TOY MUSEUM
The DFW Elite Toy Museum began as a hobby for owner Ron Sturgeon, but Sturgeon soon realized that hobbies of collectibles were meant to be shared with the public. Thus began the museum, originally designed as a toy car museum but which soon branched out to include other collectible and antique toy displays. The museum is free to the public and, to reflect Ron's love of dogs, furry friends are always welcomed with open arms.
