The Medusa's Saloon Brings Feminist Spirit to Worcester's Shrewsbury Street Bar Scene

Promoting quality and service, the women-focused Saloon provides a unique experience for customers

WORCESTER, Mass. - April 23, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

The Medusa’s Saloon, co-owned by Monte Snellenberger and Penny Marston, today announced its grand opening will be on Friday, April 26, 2019, at 274 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester, MA, 01604. A ribbon-cutting ceremony in partnership with the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce will begin at 4:30pm, with Saloon doors opening to the public at 5pm and complimentary small plates until 6pm.

Combining the outlaw, misfit spirit of the wild West with the beauty, power, and fierce self-determination of the mythological woman, The Medusa’s Saloon offers a unique bar experience for its Shrewsbury Street customers. As a women- and minority-owned and operated establishment, the decor, music, food, and featured drinks are all designed to amplify the owners’ vibrant vision for the bar.

“As a destination spot in the city of Worcester, Shrewsbury Street has a strong history of bar and restaurant success. There has been a ‘glow-up’ in this neighborhood, with increasingly sophisticated, modern and elevated bar and restaurant experiences and we saw an opportunity here,” said Snellenberger. “We are catering to women and their comfort in a bar setting. Focusing on quality and service while honoring the spirit of a lively, fun night out is an important part of our mission.”

The Medusa’s Saloon will be the first professional partnership for Snellenberger and Marston, who have been friends since they met as undergraduate students at Mount Holyoke College. For the past 20 years, Snellenberger was a Healthcare IT professional, while Marston worked in the nonprofit sector.

“We met 25 years ago and have remained friends ever since, throughout the birth of children, relationships, and career changes; and this is our first venture together,” said Marston. “The time had finally come for us to be ‘unbossed’ and build our own business.  We are fortunate that our friends and families hold great talent and treasure, contributing support as consultants, advisors, and getting hands-on to help us build this place that we love.”

The Medusa’s Saloon, located at 274 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester, opens to the public at 5pm on Friday, April 26, 2019. For more information, visit http://themedusassaloon.com.
