National Fly Casting Competition for Disabled Veterans Coming to Bozeman

BOZEMAN, Mont. - July 20, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

For the first time, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) will be hosting its annual National Fly Casting Competition in Bozeman, Montana.

The event is open to the public and will take place Friday, July 26, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the campus of Montana State University during the Fly Fishers International (FFI) Expo 2019. Fly Fishers International is a co-host of the event.

The competition—which celebrates fly fishing and its proven therapeutic benefits—is part of a year-round program that serves disabled veterans and disabled military service personnel actively participating in over 200 PHWFF programs nationwide.

The National Fly Casting Competition begins at the local program level, where disabled veteran participants learn the skills and nuances of fly casting from experienced volunteers. The winners and runners-up of the local (and subsequently regional) competitions advance to compete in the finals. This year, a total of 27 PHWFF veteran participants will compete in the finals in Bozeman.
