New Mobile App - Brooklyn Bound - Helps New Yorkers Find Fun Things to Do in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - July 24, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Brooklyn is a difficult place to navigate even for locals, but now a new mobile app, Brooklyn Bound, breaks down the most populous borough, telling New Yorkers where to go for the best entertainment, nightlife, shopping and food.

Brooklyn Bound is the first mobile app to offer curated suggestions of the best places to eat and drink in Brooklyn, using ratings and critiques from real New Yorkers who expressed their opinions on Yelp. It’s now available for free on the iOS App Store and Google Play

Brooklyn Bound is more than just a curation of Yelp reviews. The easy-to-use platform maps out the featured locations on Google Maps, enabling users to find trendy and fun nearby spots.

The creator of the mobile app, Bed-Stuy resident Mark Macias, says he realized there was a need for a Brooklyn guide after he struggled to find new places in neighboring areas.

“Most Brooklyn residents know their neighborhood, but once you get outside your comfort zone, we’re all lost when it comes to finding fun, new places,” said Macias. “I know Bed-Stuy, but I don’t know the best places for drinks in Clinton Hill or Dumbo. Brooklyn Bound helps New Yorkers find the best places for drinks, food, shopping and entertainment within the five most popular neighborhoods in Brooklyn.”

Meet New People in Brooklyn - How Brooklyn Bound Works

The app’s developer, Sarah Bastos, said she struggled to meet new people around New York, so she included a section to help New Yorkers who wanted to mingle outside of the online world. Bastos and her team of researchers spent weeks researching and visiting Brooklyn hot spots, trying to filter out the good from the bad.

“We included a section within the app that suggests spots where it’s easier to meet new people and even converse with strangers,” said Bastos. “These are public places that are typically packed with people with common interests. For example, Brooklyn Bound highlights a section - Meeting New People - for people with similar intellectual interests.”

Brooklyn Bound has 12 categories that include: “Meet New People”; “Free and Fun”; “Lost in BK”; “Shopping”; “Food”; “Drinks”; “Tourist Traps”; “Best Cafes”; “Best Views”; “Recreation”; “Seasons”; “Staycation.”

For example, the category - “Tourist Traps” - helps locals who have family visiting Brooklyn, while the “Lost in BK” section helps people when they are lost in a new neighborhood. This section guides consumers to the main streets with the highest foot traffic.

“Manhattan is fairly easy to navigate; every street has traffic, shopping and bars,” said Bastos. “But Brooklyn can be sparse from street to street and if you don’t know where you’re going, you can quickly get lost. I wanted to make sure anyone who was lost in Brooklyn could quickly find the main area for that neighborhood. This section is especially helpful for people who explore a new neighborhood without any specific plans.”

Brooklyn Bound differs from other travel apps as it targets audiences of all ages, including singles, families, and teens to provide an inclusive experience.

Free Things to Do in Brooklyn
