Grand Medina Resorts Acquires 217 Acres of Land for $34M for Resort Development in Orlando, Florida

Everest Group of Companies has paid $34 million for a 217-acre tract near Disney, activating plans for North America's first of its kind resort - Halal, Kosher & Alcohol-Free.

ORLANDO, FL, October 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marking memorable milestone achievements, Everest Group of Companies in conjunction with Grand Medina Resorts announced today that they have completed the acquisition and have taken ownership of 217 acres of land in Orlando, Florida located in the Kissimmee area along US highway 192 - a prime location that is in the midst of the largest tourist destination in the world. The property is 30 minutes from the airport and just a few minutes away from Disney World and all the other major attractions Orlando has to offer.

With the support of the project's major promoter, Everest Group and its partners, Grand Medina Resort & Spa Orlando would be Osceola County's first five-star resort. CEO Zafir Rashid says "the project would add 3,000 luxury rooms and villas, a full-service spa and a mix of retail uses."

Nestled amongst the legendary attractions and parks, Grand Medina Orlando is one of the few resorts which will offer a truly unique luxury experience. The resort boasts spectacular views packed with endless entertainment options including a private water park with a wave pool, slides and a lazy river along with a crystal lagoon with its own beach, a conference center to accommodate up to 2500 people, an entertainment area, and a shopping center to just name a few.

Everest announced the first Grand Medina Resort just north of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic prior to the Orlando site, however, because the Punta Cana project has been held up with title issues, the company is accelerating work on the Florida site. Everest plans to break ground in the spring of 2020 and will be investing up to $700 million on the development. The plan will be to develop the mixed-use commercial village first and the company is open to joint ventures for the retail, multifamily and hotel projects. The project is looking at building around 600 multifamily units, divided between two communities, with ground-floor commercial use.

Grand Medina Resorts shall welcome everyone wanting to experience Orlando in a more family-friendly environment. Key features will include private women's only areas, halal, vegan and kosher restaurant options as well as an alcohol-free environment. There is a desire from people of different faiths for a place where they have more privacy and modesty and the company is looking to tap into that niche. The resort, although promoting these key differentiating features, will be inclusive to everyone and will cater to individuals from all age groups, demographics, religions, and cultures.

Rashid, excitedly announced that "The company is not only thrilled about opening the resort but will also be a major player in helping to develop the community at large."

"Everest Group of Companies has a great track record of developing world-class real-estate properties," says Zafir Rashid. "We're confident that guests, employees and the surrounding communities of Orlando will benefit from the Everest Groups expertise, investment, and know-how, and we are certain the resort will become a community favorite."

Everest is working with David Portwood, president of Davenport Consulting Group, and Kimley-Horn and Terracon for the engineering and geotechnical work. Spanish firm, Arquiestudio, is collaborating on the resort design.

In the upcoming months, the company will share further updates on the development and future plans.

Grand Medina Resorts & Spa Orlando is an alcohol-free, family-friendly, halal food resort complex of hotels, rentals, condominiums, and shopping centers. Located minutes from Walt Disney World, just 20 miles from Orlando and off US Highway 192, this 217-acre site will cater to the North American and international Halal tourism markets. As a luxury lifestyle hotel brand inspired by unique architecture and elements, Grand Medina Resorts & Spa cultivates the best of sustainable design and architecture, together with extraordinary comfort and an unrivaled level of service.
