National Diaper Bank Network Partners With Soraya Lattimore to Help the 1 in 3 US Families Struggling With Diaper Need

LOS ANGELES - November 15, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Beginning Nov. 15, 2019, the National Diaper Bank Network and Soraya Lattimore will lead on-site and virtual diaper drives benefiting its member diaper bank programs. Fans from around the country can support her efforts by donating directly to her campaign to benefit parents and caregivers in need this holiday season.

Soraya Lattimore is the toddler star from Huggies® Special DeliveryTM diaper campaign, and she is announcing her commitment to fighting diaper need in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, as well as in the greater Los Angeles area.

According to the National Diaper Bank Network and its founding sponsor, Huggies®, approximately 36% of American families struggle to provide diapers for their children, and over half of those caregivers aren’t aware of accessible diaper bank programs that can provide help in their area.

A comprehensive study conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies® in 2017 reported:

-One in three families surveyed struggling to provide diapers for their children is higher than the 34% recorded in a 2010 Huggies® survey.

-Sixty-five percent of families surveyed said they weren’t aware of available diaper banks. The average household in need fell 19 diapers short each month; 57% of parents experiencing diaper need miss school or work due to childcare diaper requirements.

Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy, and it is pervasive in all communities throughout the country.

Soraya’s role in the historic-first Huggies® Special DeliveryTM campaign fueled her team’s desire to continue making an impact on parents and children experiencing diaper need. The revolutionary campaign, which debuted in July 2019, featured two firsts for the industry: highlighting fathers as the primary caregiver, as well as featuring an African American father on the packaging.

Huggies is deeply proud of Soraya and her efforts to help end diaper need, and we’re sending loads of hugs her way,” said Kristine Rhode, Marketing Director. “Her photo brings happiness to millions on our Huggies Special Delivery packaging, and we are proud that her family and community are rallying around families in need to extend that happiness to their own babies.”

To emphasize their support, Soraya is teaming up with the National Diaper Bank Network — a nonprofit organization that provides material basic necessities required to build the strong foundations all children, families, and individuals need. This organization has benefited from Huggies® in a huge way, having received over 220 million diapers to date since they became the founding sponsor. Soraya is amplifying that impact by hosting diaper drives now through December 2, benefiting NDBN member programs Columbus Diaper Coalition in Columbus, OH and Baby2Baby in Greater Los Angeles, CA, and HomeAid Orange County in Irvine, CA.
