Easier Access Announced for Utah’s Vital Records

The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) Office of Vital Records (OVR) has announced a significant improvement to SILVER, the state’s official source for ordering Vital Records certificates online. Effective July 1, 2020, Utahns can order vital records online and pick the certificates up at a number of local health department vital records offices. This change will allow customers across the state to conveniently order online and pick up close to home.

“This will get certificates into the hands of Utahns faster than ever before,” said Linda S. Wininger, Director of the Office of Vital Records and Statistics. “Residents can order online, pick up in a local office or have the certificate mailed to them.”

Utah residents may receive documents from one of the following local health departments:

  • Bear River (Logan North, Logan South, Brigham City, Tremonton)
  • Central Utah (Richfield)
  • Davis County (Clearfield)
  • Salt Lake County (Salt Lake Downtown, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan)
  • San Juan County (Blanding)
  • Southeast Utah (Price)
  • Southwest Utah (St George, Beaver, Cedar City, Kanab, Panguitch)
  • Summit County (Coalville, Kamas, Park City)
  • Tooele County (Tooele)
  • TriCounty (Vernal, Roosevelt)
  • Utah County (Provo, American Fork, Payson)
  • Wasatch County (Heber City)
  • Weber-Morgan (Ogden)

When residents submit vital record requests directly to the official source, they pay the lowest online fees available and can be assured the request is being handled safely and securely.

“Some third-party vendors charge customers exorbitant fees to do nothing more than fill out our application and mail it to us,” said Wininger. “Other third-party vendors facilitated the online ordering the local health departments were not able to provide. Now, with the improvements to SILVER, we are able to provide these services ourselves.

“When you visit a Utah.gov website, you know you are at the official source, paying the lowest price possible and getting the fastest turnaround time.”

Users, including those out of state, can also order online and use expedited shipping to receive documents quickly without coming into an office.
