WASHINGTON, DC, January 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The nation watched in horror as violence erupted at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, resulting in five deaths and many injuries. The impact on the individuals and their families is immense and WIG extends condolences and concern. Further, the ramifications for our governance, elected leaders and citizenry is immeasurable. As we respond to these events, Women In Government asserts that:

1. States have been on the front lines of emerging crises for months and have experienced assaults on their Capitols.
2. Including women in conflict resolution leads to more effective and sustained solutions.
3. Women must to be part of the solution – in the states and in Washington, DC.

States will lead the way, and women will lead the way – just as we did a century ago to secure the right to vote. Join us. Women In Government (WIG) has been a "safe space" for women state legislators from diverse perspectives for more than thirty years to deliberate, communicate and collaborate.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., WIG is a national non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to provide leadership opportunities, expert forums, and educational resources to address and resolve complex public policy issues. www.womeningovernment.org
