NATIONAL CONTRACT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION INTRODUCES NEW ENTRY LEVEL CERTIFICATION

--News Direct--

The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) unveiled the Certified Contract Management Associate (CCMA™) certification, a new entry-level certification designed to support competency of those new to the contract management profession.

“The Certified Contract Management Associate (CCMA™) will provide a needed stepping-stone for those with a year of contract management experience or for those with college degrees just beginning their professional contracting journey,” said Kraig Conrad, CEO.

Earning this certification showcases commitment to the contract management profession and commitment to the ongoing, continuous learning expected of successful contract managers. The CCMA™ is for:

  • Anyone with a 4-year degree from a regionally accredited college with less than one year of experience in contract management;
  • Buyers and sellers with at least one year of contract management experience without a regionally accredited 4-year degree;
  • Buyers interested in understanding how their actions impact sellers and sellers interested in understanding how their actions impact buyers; and
  • Anyone interested in understanding the foundational aspects of the contract life cycle.

The CCMA™ exam is based on NCMA’s ANSI accredited Contract Management Standard™ (CMS™). In addition to being a nationally recognized standard, the CMS™ lays the foundation of the contract management profession. In its pages the standard outlines both guiding principles and phases of the contract lifecycle and the key domains, competencies, and job tasks required to be successful, from both the buyer and seller perspectives. The CMS™ also forms the foundation of the Contract Management Body of Knowledge® (CMBOK®), as well as the U.S. Department of Defense's new Contracting Competency Model.

“Understanding how these components blend and impact contract performance is a foundational requirement for those new to the profession,” said Conrad. “I expect the CCMA™ to make major contributions to employers seeking to hire entry-level personnel, as well as to the individuals themselves as they enter the profession. Those possessing a CCMA™ will have a leg-up in the job market at this level.”

Those interested in pursuing the CCMA™ certification will be able to sit for the exam beginning March 15.
