Li & Liao Optometry is pleased to announce the addition of a new optometrist to the staff, Sherry Shang, O.D., F.A.A.O. Dr. Shang will see patients across all three of the practice’s Bakersfield locations. The addition of Dr. Shang to Li & Liao Optometry’s staff solidifies their commitment to providing top-quality eye care and great patient convenience to Bakersfield residents as she will be moving throughout their locations.
“I’m very excited to start meeting patients and working at Li and Liao Optometry,” said Dr. Shang. “I’m especially interested to work with children because I have an extensive orthokeratology background for managing myopia. Serving the community is important to me, and Li and Liao Optometry is a Bakersfield staple and regularly participates in community events. It’s nice to be back in southern California – I can’t wait to get to know everyone!”
Dr. Shang received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, before earning her Doctor of Optometry at the State University of New York College of Optometry. She then completed a cornea and contact lens residency at the Southern California College of Optometry. In addition to her extensive training, she also frequently lectures for colleagues and at major optometric conferences.
“Dr. Shang is a wonderful optometrist who brings so many skills and talents with her,” said Dr. Dawson Li. “She has such a strong background in many different aspects of eye care, she’s a constant learner and she has a lot of experience handling complex cases and conditions like keratoconus. Our patients know we hold our team to exceptional standards, and Dr. Shang will fit right in as someone who goes above and beyond every time. With Dr. Shang on staff, Li & Liao Optometry remains as committed as ever to patient education, with the goal that Dr. Shang’s specific experiences and specialties will be able to further grow myopia management programs across their locations. Dr. Shang will take appointments at Li & Liao Optometry’s Northwest, Central, and Southwest Bakersfield practices starting Monday, Aug. 29. Li & Liao Optometry is accepting appointments for both new and existing patients at all three of their offices.
