Higher Education Veterans to Help Guide Company's Strategic Direction
TYSONS, Va. - Dec. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Higher Digital, the leading independent digital strategic advisor to higher education institutions, today announced the appointment of Jonathan Kaplan and Dr. Edwin Welch to the company's advisory board. Kaplan and Welch will collaborate with other board members to ensure that Higher Digital continues to offer relevant products and services that help institutions build digital solutions that closely align with their business operations.

Kaplan, a long-time higher education executive, recently completed a 15-year tenure at Laureate Education, where he served in a variety of positions including CEO of the Online Division and president of Walden University. He currently advises private equity firms, education companies, and other organizations on market trends, strategy, digital learning, and operations. Kaplan graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in government and received his JD from Boston University School of Law where he served on the law review.

"Higher Digital has demonstrated great success in helping universities navigate the complex technology environments in which they operate today," said Kaplan. "What's unique about Higher Digital is that the team acts as an unbiased, honest broker in assessing the needs of an institution and identifies the optimal solutions to address those needs."

In his nearly 30 years as president of the University of Charleston, Welch quadrupled full-time student enrollment and helped raise more than $100 million for various construction, student and operational initiatives. He served in the Executive Office of the President at The White House in the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations. Welch also taught at West Virginia Wesleyan College and served as provost at Wartburg College in Iowa. Welch holds degrees from McDaniel College, Boston University School of Theology, and Boston University Graduate School.

"What's impressive about Higher Digital and prompted me to join their advisory board," said Welch, "is that they provide college and university leaders with clear data that benchmarks their institution against similar schools, which empowers them to make cost-effective and fact-based decisions before committing to the breadth of a technology transformation. They can also decide the level of assistance they desire from Higher Digital to chart the institution's course. It's up to them and rewarding for me to be a part of that help."

Higher Digital's Founder and CEO, Wayne Bovier commented, "We're extremely excited to welcome Jon and Ed to our esteemed advisory board. Both of these respected higher education leaders have first-hand experience and years of success in leveraging technology and innovation to improve student success. We're excited for them to share their unique perspectives to assist and guide us in shaping products and presenting solutions that will enhance data-supported strategy planning and decision making. We look forward to working closely with them."
