African Energy Award for Dietsmann founder Peter Kütemann

By: Get News

During the African Energy Week (AEW) Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, Dietsmann founder and chairman Peter Kütemann had the honour of receiving the Inaugural Barkindo Lifetime Achievement Award. Presented by the Secretary-General of OPEC, H.E. Haitham al-Ghais, this annual award has been renamed in honor of his predecessor, H.E. Mohammad Barkindo. Dr Barkindo passed away this year, after leading OPEC since 2016.

The award for Mr Kütemann is a recognition for his long-time contribution in shaping Africa’s energy market success, driving socioeconomic development in a sustainable and locally impactful way. Dietsmann, the company he founded 45 years ago, is a leader in operation and maintenance innovation in the energy industry. It's had a long-standing presence in several energy producing countries across Africa.

Energy poverty

The AEW is an annual conference where heads of state, energy ministers, global investors and industry leaders discuss the future of Africa's energy industry. The event was established in 2021 under the premise to make energy poverty history by 2030.

Peter Kütemann (75), who recently stepped down as CEO of Dietsmann, accepted the award in the presence of his daughter and Dietsmann Supervisory Board Member Anouschka Kütemann, and Asma Barkindo, daughter of the late Secretary General. Mr Kütemann said to dedicate this prestigious award to all Dietsmann employees who in the past and present contributed to Dietsmann's sustained presence and success in Africa.
