Florida Governor DeSantis signed the Live Local Act into law on March 29th, 2023. This new act will take effect with new reservations made on or after July 1st in order to recognize and honor local community members who have made significant contributions to their neighborhoods, cities, and towns. The HomeTown Heroes program was created as part of this act with the goal of recognizing those individuals who have had a positive impact on their communities and providing them with financial assistance for homeownership.
Corina Liranzo, licensed Realtor™, is working diligently to spread awareness about this program as it has much potential to benefit hardworking individuals in the community. She has been able to build partnerships with local businesses and organizations to help sponsor the program and raise awareness through social media, email newsletters, and other marketing channels.
The HomeTown Heroes program helps heroes such as veterans, police officers, firefighters, healthcare workers, and other public servants, who have dedicated themselves to serving others, achieve their dream of homeownership. They can receive grants or zero-interest loans that will cover down payment assistance, mortgage payments assistance, and closing cost assistance in order to make it easier for them to qualify for a home in their desired area. This financial support can go a long way in helping these individuals overcome any financial barriers they may face when attempting to purchase a property.
Overall, it is an extremely valuable initiative that has the potential to positively change lives and make a lasting impact on local communities across the state.
