Happi Coffee Rebrands as Nawalee, Reflecting Deeper Connection to Origin, People, and Craft

Brooklyn, NY - December 24, 2025 - Happi Coffee, the specialty coffee brand known for fresh-roasted, flavor-forward blends and single origins, today announced its rebrand to Nawalee Coffee. The new name reflects the brand’s evolving focus on honoring the people, places, and traditions behind every cup—while keeping the same coffee, team, and commitment to quality customers know and love.

“Nothing about our coffee is changing,” said founder Randy Ayala. “This rebrand is about naming what has always been at the heart of what we do—coffee rooted in origin, shaped by people, and meant to be shared.”

Formerly known as Happi Coffee, Nawalee continues to roast coffee to order in small batches and ship nationwide for peak freshness. All existing products, roast profiles, subscriptions, and customer accounts remain unchanged.

Why the Name Changed

Happi was the brand’s beginning—and one the team remains proud of. As the company grew, it became clear there was an opportunity to choose a name that could carry the full depth of its story.

“Happi gave us a joyful foundation,” Ayala said. “As we grew, we wanted a name that could hold more of what our coffee represents—its origins, the communities behind it, and the care that goes into every cup—without losing warmth or approachability.”

The name Nawalee is inspired by the Mayan concept of the Nawal—a guiding spirit connected to land, community, and one’s path through the world. For the brand, it reflects the belief that every coffee carries a distinct character shaped by its environment and the people who cultivate it.

A Symbol of Origin and Connection

Along with the new name, Nawalee Coffee introduces a new visual identity centered around the Resplendent Quetzal, a bird sacred in Mayan culture and historically associated with freedom, beauty, and guidance.

“The Quetzal represents what we believe coffee can be,” said Ayala. “Rooted in place, alive with meaning, and meant to be shared.”

The symbol now appears on all Nawalee Coffee packaging as a reminder of the spirit behind each cup.
