Satya Inc. Receives Manufacturing License from Oregon Health Authority to Begin Psilocybin Manufacturing

MEDFORD, OREGON / ACCESSWIRE / March 23, 2023 / Satya Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Oregon Health Authority ("OHA") has granted the Company a license to manufacture psilocybin mushrooms for sale to licensed service centers.

Andreas Met, CEO and Co-Founder, said, "This is the result of 42 days of tireless teamwork getting the site ready with the other Co-Founders! We beat our original goals and are well ahead of schedule. The OHA has been a real pleasure to work with, helping us as a small company navigate the process. It's been an amazing experience."

Mr. Met continued, "It's hard to describe how thrilling this is: we are among the first group of applicants to be fully licensed to grow psilocybe cubensis for legal consumption in Oregon. In fact, we believe we are among the first to ever be granted this privilege on earth, in history."

Type 1 Permit Application Filed with Jackson County

On March 6 the Company submitted its Type 1 Land Use Application to Jackson County. The Company understands that it may take up to sixty days to complete the process. The Company does not expect any issues to arise during this process.

Mr. Met opined, "We are likely going to be one of the first production facilities to begin operations in Southern Oregon. To date, the County has been very supportive as we navigate the requirements to begin operations. It's a new process for everyone and it's been surprisingly smooth to this point. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the County's Planning Department to move the approval process forward."

Commercial Kitchen Plans

The Company plans to install a commercial kitchen to produce edible psilocybin products, such as gummies and chocolates. Upon its Type 1 Land Use Approval, the Company, will turn its focus to working with the County, OHA, and Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) to develop a fully compliant commercial kitchen.

"It's not exactly clear what specific products our future service center customers will want to buy from us since no service centers have been licensed yet! We intend enter into material supply agreements (MSAs) with service centers to develop and deliver desirable products pursuant to precise specifications," said Mr. Met.

"A phased approach makes execution easier to handle between the Company, the OHA, ODA, and the County," continued Mr. Met, "This industry will start small enough for us to develop and produce the different product offerings that our customers demand. And we will produce the best quality products that our clients request."

Land Acknowledgement

Part of the licensing process called for the Company to submit a "Social Equity Plan" to the OHA. Given the longstanding relationship between Indigenous peoples and psychedelic mushrooms, and the disproportionate impact that historic drug policies have had on marginalized communities, the Company is highly committed to the pursuit of social equity and being a leader in providing opportunity to people of all backgrounds.

Mr. Met states "We lease a 100+ year old barn to conduct our business. It's really cool to take something that old and revitalize it so we can help provide legal access to something that has been used since ancient times. We need to remember that the barn was built on land used by Indigenous people for generations before the barn was built. We need to acknowledge that fact and pay respect and homage to the people that were here before us."

As such the Company offers the following Land Acknowledgement:

We would like to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Shasta, Takelma and Athabaskans on which we are learning, working, and growing as a company today.

It is important to acknowledge this land because there were Indigenous tribes who lived here far before colonizers did. I also believe we must acknowledge the land and the people who lived here as I grew up the son of immigrant parents and several of our co-founders are immigrants as well, or children of immigrants. I was once ignorant of the traditional names of these territories, all the while enjoying the splendor of the land in the Rogue Valley.

In school, we talked about Indigenous people in the past tense. Likewise, we discussed all the struggles they faced as if those struggles ended long ago. Speaking in the past tense about Indigenous communities makes it easier to deny Indigenous people their rights. If we do not see their struggles and the byproducts of oppression as current, we are pretending they do not exist.

I take this opportunity to commit myself, and Satya Inc., to combat the systems of oppression that have dispossessed Indigenous people of their lands and denied their rights to self-determination. I also acknowledge a commitment to equity within the company for all.
