U.S. electricity demand continues to rise, with data centers and commercial and industrial (C&I) loads among the fastest-growing sources of new demand. This pressure is being further intensified by rapid growth in AI-driven compute workloads and data-intensive applications, which industry analysts estimate can require two to three times more power per workload than traditional compute. Market research from S&P Global indicates that U.S. data center power demand could reach approximately 108 to 134 gigawatts by 2030, representing nearly three times current levels in some forecasts, adding significant incremental load to an already constrained grid.
