Linyi City, Shandong Province: Malls Full of New Year Atmosphere — Shop for Spring Festival Goods

Let’s go — time to buy New Year goods at Linyi Mall!

As the Spring Festival approaches, Linyi Mall is decked out in lanterns and decorations and filled with a warm festive atmosphere. New Year paintings, delicious foods, and thoughtful gifts — bustling shoppers, overflowing carts, and the constant calls of vendors weave together into a lively scene of Spring Festival shopping.

At the China Hotel Supplies City, shelves are packed with New Year ceramic ornaments, festive tableware, and holiday decorations that attract many shoppers. “Recently foot traffic grows day by day; daily sales can reach over 800,000 yuan, and our workers have to pack and ship until after nine in the evening,” said Han Dongju, store manager of Hanyi Ceramics, smiling while serving customers. To appeal to younger shoppers, the store even set up photo spots — many young people stop to take pictures and pick out their favorite New Year items, injecting new vitality into the traditional market for holiday goods.

The China International Food City is even more saturated with festive flavor and has become a paradise for food lovers. Specialty gift boxes, nuts, candies, pastries, and famous cigarettes and spirits are neatly displayed. Citizens stroll between booths carefully selecting the foods their families prefer. “Buying New Year goods at the Food City gives you full variety and low prices — you can get everything your household needs in one trip,” said a shopper, Du Yao, with a smile.

Behind the lively shopping scenes is the strong market capability of Linyi Mall. Known as the “China Grand Market,” Linyi Mall gathers 136 specialized wholesale markets, covering 27 major categories and more than 6 million SKUs. On average 300,000 people come to negotiate deals daily, and 20,000 trucks enter and exit the distribution area. In 2025, market transaction volume at Linyi Mall is expected to surpass 700 billion yuan, while total logistics throughput will top one trillion yuan.

Offline popularity is matched by booming online activity. At the influencer e-commerce supply chain headquarters base, lights burn late into the night as livestreamers enthusiastically showcase all kinds of New Year goods — from specialty agricultural products to daily necessities, from festive decorations to gift boxes. “The pre-Spring Festival period is peak season for livestream sales. We livestream more than 12 hours a day, the park receives over 200,000 orders a day, and many out-of-town viewers buy Linyi’s specialty New Year goods through our streams,” said park director Jia Hangzhou.

Linyi has now built 60 e-commerce parks, nurtured 210,000 e-commerce entities and 20,000 professional livestreamers; Kuaishou user registrations rank first in the country, and Linyi’s e-commerce transaction volume is among the top three nationwide, making it the largest livestream e-commerce base in northern China.

Smooth New Year shopping also depends on an efficient logistics system. In recent years, Linyi has built an integrated “road-rail-sea-air” logistics network with more than 3,000 dedicated highway routes reaching every prefecture-level and above city, ports, and border crossings nationwide. This enables same-day delivery within 600 km, next-day delivery within 1,500 km, and delivery every other day within 3,000 km, with logistics prices about 30% lower than the national average.

The express delivery sector is also strong. Linyi’s express handling volume has ranked first in Shandong Province for six consecutive years and 23rd nationwide. Major carriers such as YTO and ZTO have set up regional sorting centers in Linyi; express prices are about 50% lower than the national average, further ensuring the fast circulation of New Year goods.
