Coastal Medical Transportation Systems Appoints Mark Contardo as Chief Operating Officer

In His New Role, Mark Will Be Responsible for Maintaining and Driving Operational Results within the Organization

Coastal Medical Transportation Systems (CMTS), a privately owned and operated medical transportation company dedicated to providing the highest quality of care with compassion, dignity and respect for customers and their patients, today announced that Mark Contardo has been appointed as the company’s chief operating officer. Reporting directly to CMTS founder and CEO Alexandre Theoharidis, he will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence across the company’s primary functions. Most recently he served as the organization’s chief commercial officer, where he was charged with defining and driving the company’s growth strategy in terms of customer acquisition and market differentiation as well as ensuring client and patient satisfaction across the regions of New England the company serves.

“I am thrilled to announce that Mark Contardo has been appointed as Coastal Medical Transportation Systems’ chief operations officer,” said CEO Alexandre Theoharidis. “As our organization scales rapidly across New England, the position required oversight from an individual who could take the reins of our overall operations, ensuring operational efficiency and business continuity both internally and externally. Having worked closely with Mark in varying professional settings over the years, including his recent time spent as our chief commercial officer, I am confident that he is the right person to support our team in this role.”

Contardo joined CMTS earlier this year, bringing to the company over 30 years of commercial healthcare experience at Fortune 15 global companies, mid-size medical device companies, as well as start-ups. Most recently, he served as president of Avante Health Solutions, a private equity owned capital medical equipment company in Louisville, KY where he held full responsibility for the organization’s P&L. He previously worked with Alexandre when he held the role of executive vice president of business development at Acuity Link, a transportation communications and logistics management software provider that was ultimately sold to Central Logic in 2020.

Over the past year, CMTS has grown exponentially through the acquisition of Transformative Healthcare’s Massachusetts medical transportation arm, comprising Fallon Ambulance Service and LifeLine Ambulance Service. Prior to that deal the company effectively doubled the size of their service to the region, expanding operations from the Cape & Islands, north to metro Boston and west to central Massachusetts, supported by 11 operating bases and a state-of-the-art dispatch center.
