"Beyond the Bases" is a culmination of years of local and online hitting instruction, coaching middle and high school teams, and managing my kids' teams. The book aims to help coaches navigate challenges with parents and players, support effective coaching, and address burnout. My experiences shaped the book to make coaching more enjoyable and effective using practical strategies and AI technology".
Myers has hopes that the book will support coaches in creating positive and effective learning environments, preventing burnout, and enhancing the overall coaching experience. This positive outlook from the author is certainly testament to their optimism considering some of the mishaps during its creation. At one point the author's computer crashed, requiring 40% of the book to be rewritten from memory.
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking God, his family for their patience, and his assistant coaches and players for their hard work for their part in the creation of the book, saying:
"I have to give special thanks to my baseball kiddos for teaching me more than I've taught them. The greatest coaches in my life were always learning, and that's what I hope my players see in me".
