Largest Crowds Expected for Glendale s Dragonfest Expo

(NewMediaWire) - August 01, 2024 - Glendale, CA – The 18th annual Dragonfest expo, the largest martial arts and Asian-themed convention, is preparing for huge crowds this Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.

Dragonfest is a charity event presented by the Martial Arts History Museum in Glendale, CA. It is an educational facility that teaches primarily about Asian art, history, culture, and tradition and how it connects with the martial arts. One hundred percent of the proceeds of Dragonfest are donated to the museum.

The martial arts expo, which has become the most popular martial arts event in the world, is filled with 100 vendor booths selling martial arts items, anime shirts, and even shark-teethed weapons. The day is filled with unique cultural Japanese, Chinese, and even Armenian dance and instrumental groups.

Dragonfest also includes training with six of the biggest martial arts icons including World Kickboxing champions Benny “the jet” Urquidez and Don “the dragon” Wilson—other guest instructors include Kumu Michelle Manu, Robert Redfeather, and Robin Price.

“Dragonfest is a celebration. There’s nothing like it in the whole world,” says museum president Michael Matsuda. “Here you can meet and greet your favorite martial arts icons, heroes, and movie stars.”

Among the martial arts celebrities are Cynthia Rothrock (Black Creek), Matthew Moy (Two Broke Girls), Michael Jai White (Spawn), Leilani Shiu (Star Wars), Americus Abesamis (iCarly), Eric Lee and Peter Kwong (Big Trouble in Little China), James Lew (Emmy Winner), Art Camacho (The Camacho Experiment), Cobra Kai’s Sean Kanan, Darryl Vidal, Ron Thomas and William Ford.

“This is our gathering, our comic-con of the martial arts. We have recently moved one of the top five tourist attractions, the museum, to Glendale and now we are continuing to host Dragonfest in this great city,” adds Matsuda. “I cannot wait until the city feels the impact of the museum and Dragonfest.”
