Netsmart Welcomes Wendy Hill as First Chief People Officer

Netsmart announced today that Wendy Hill has been named the company’s first chief people officer (CPO). Hill will lead this new function that includes the human resources and associate development organization for the Kansas-headquartered healthcare IT provider.

To accelerate the company’s focus on developing a people-first culture and grow internal talent, Netsmart chose Hill, who brings 17 years of experience leading workforce strategy and talent management functions.

“In eight short years, we’ve grown from 360 to 1,800 associates,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “A huge part of our success has been in finding the best people and growing them as we grow our company. All leaders see it as their job to develop their teams; however, we have reached a scale where we need a senior executive that drives our people strategies each and every day. Wendy’s deep expertise in human resources will shape our strategies going forward and, as importantly, she will play a major role in leading our associates and culture toward long-term success.”

Hill most recently served as a vice president of HR for Cerner where she focused on executing and supporting the company’s people strategy and business plan. Hill was responsible for managing Cerner’s worldwide workforce strategy. Her role allowed her to act as a trusted leader for organizational and people issues. She helped implement talent development initiatives that fostered high-level performance across the entire organization.

“Wendy brings with her a considerable track record of people management and leadership experience, which makes her the perfect individual to nurture the talent of our associates,” Netsmart COO Tom Herzog said. “Her vision as CPO to develop a successful workforce and culture through progressive strategies is essential to maintain our position as an industry leader, grow business and maximize opportunity through innovation.”

"I am honored to join the Netsmart team who has been incredibly successful building a world-class company,” said Hill. "Our associates represent our most important asset, and the new role of CPO demonstrates the Netsmart commitment and our desire to support them in reaching their full potential. I am looking forward to helping Netsmart continue to build a strong culture of talent to deliver uncommon results for the communities we serve.”

Hill holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. She is a member of the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation and previously held a board position for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

She is based out of the Netsmart headquarters in Overland Park.
