Here’s What Goes On In A Recovery Music Festival

Lighthouse Treatment Center Alumni Attend Freedom Coalition Fest 2019

Anaheim, California - Every year, the alumni of the Lighthouse Treatment Center (lighthousetreatment.com), a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Anaheim, California, head to the Freedom Coalition Fest to enjoy a unique music event. While the yearly event also features a great lineup of live bands and other exciting activities, what makes it different from other music festivals in America is that there is no alcohol served at the event venue.

According to Jocel Bibera, Alumni Coordinator at the Lighthouse, many people in recovery never imagined that they would still be able to attend a music festival while staying sober. “Many music festivals are associated with alcohol and other addictive substances. As part of our Alumni Program, the Lighthouse supports the Freedom Coalition Fest to show our alumni that they can still enjoy amazing live music and have fun in a sober environment.”

This year, the Freedom Coalition Fest 2019 is happening on June 29, Saturday at the Garden Grove Elks Event Field, CA. Now on its 11th year, the music festival will feature live music, BBQ, kids’ zone, raffle drawings, recovery-based vendors and a motorcycle show. The gates will open at 8:00 in the morning and more than ten bands will perform to provide live music until late.

Erica M, an alumnus from the Lighthouse who attended the Freedom Coalition Fest in the past years, expressed how amazing the experience was for people like her who were in recovery.

“Freedom Coalition is a one of a kind environment to enjoy spending time with people in recovery. Music, recovery-based vendors and good people! Always a memorable time,” said Erica.

Freedom Coalition Fest is an annual recovery event founded by Rock-N-Recovery Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in drug rehabilitation centers and programs throughout Southern California. Other event sponsors include FC Fullerton Music, Lifestyles Cycles Riding Group, Schapiro Leventhal Motorcycle Attorneys, and Ricky Menace.

Frank Waldrop, VP of Rock-N-Recovery, hosts the festival every year with his business Jeff Cyran. According to Waldrop, Freedom Coalition Fest is one of two major fundraisers they hold, the other one being the Roque N Recovery Toy Run.

“We donate to local drug and alcohol programs, detox scholarships, help men, women, and families during the Christmas holidays with toys, gift cards and other needs. We also sponsor those who cannot afford to attend our events and have fun in recovery in an alcohol-free environment. In addition, we also provide entertainment for local recovery events throughout the year,” said Waldrop
