Glenmede Announces Key Sustainable and Impact Investing Appointments

Glenmede, a privately held and independently owned investment and wealth management firm with $40 billion in assets under management, has appointed Mark Hays as Director of Impact & Sustainable Investing and John Church as Director of Endowment & Foundation Impact Portfolio Management, continuing Glenmede’s long-term commitment to impact and sustainable investing.

As the Director of Impact & Sustainable Investing, Mr. Hays will provide strategic leadership of Glenmede’s impact investing effort, overseeing the development and communication around Glenmede’s evolving impact client solutions. He and the team will also continue to advise Impactivate, a website sponsored by Glenmede as a forum for the impact community.

As the Director of Endowment & Foundation Impact Portfolio Management, Mr. Church will be responsible for portfolio construction and customization for endowment and foundation clients seeking to align their investments with their organizations’ mission and values. In this role, he will partner with the Impact & Sustainable Investing, Private Investment and Manager Research teams.

Mr. Hays joins Glenmede from J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he was Vice President of Sustainable Investing. In this role, Mr. Hays developed an enhanced ESG integration framework and led its implementation for more than 25 investment teams across asset classes, while helping to create and launch three sustainable investment strategies. He previously worked as Vice President of Impact Investing at Flat World Partners in London and New York, where he led manager research and the creation of the firm’s first fund focused on renewables project financing. Mr. Hays earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Wake Forest University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the London Business School.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Church acted as a Portfolio Manager for Endowments & Foundations in Glenmede’s Philadelphia office, providing investment advice and portfolio management for foundations, endowments and other not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Church has also served as a research analyst in the Manager Research Group, performing due diligence on hedge fund and other externally managed strategies. He is a voting member of Glenmede’s Endowment & Foundation Investment Committee and sits on the firm’s Manager Research and Private Investment Committees. Mr. Church received a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in business from Skidmore College.
