New fund for Australian COVID-19 science

Melbourne, Apr 23, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Research fund with $500,000 urgently calls for Australian COVID-19 science projects

Eureka Technology Innovation and Investment (Eureka TechIN) is inviting Australian scientists to apply for a share of an AU$500,000 research fund in order to boost COVID-19 efforts. 

Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia Eureka TechIN has launched the Eureka Research Fund for Immunology and Virology and will close applications at 5 pm Sunday, April 26. 

The initial commitment of AU$500,000 will support Australian scientific research activities which focus on anti-virus research. The research can be focused on developing new COVID-19 testing methods, finding a prevention or cure, or related technology for this devastating virus.

The fund also comes with a team of business and manufacturing specialists who will collaboratively work with and support the scientists to get their discoveries out into the community as quickly as possible.

"Eureka TechIN is providing a fast track to Australian science with the announcement of this fund. We will provide scientists with the funds they need to collaborate on a shared goal. Then, we access the best business and manufacturing expertise to cooperatively bring their discoveries out into the community.

"With the rapid development of COVID-19, we want to create a network of the brightest Australian minds, all sharing expertise and resources to address this critical global issue," said Dr. Ruchong Ou, member of Eureka TechIN Advisory Board and Senior Research Fellow, Monash University and Alfred Hospital.

The Eureka Research Fund for Immunology and Virology will be managed by Eureka TechIN throughout the process from application review, monitoring and evaluation. Eureka TechIN has an esteemed Advisory Board to assist with fund management and to ensure a high quality of research is delivered.

The AU$500,000 Eureka Research Fund for Immunology and Virology is open to Australian researchers and scientists.
