MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - November 8, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Clean Ocean Access, a nonprofit organization with the vision of a clean, healthy ocean that is accessible to all, brings back its Land to Sea Speaker Series with Sara Churgin of the Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District and Margie Brennan of the Portsmouth School District on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to share the story of AgInnovation Farm. Claim a Free Event Ticket & Registration Here

The goal of the Land to Sea Speaker Series is to highlight professionals across sectors that share a background knowledge about the vibrant coastal ecosystems and to leave listeners with actionable ways that they can improve ocean health in their daily lives.

The first speaker, Margie Brennan, is the Science Instructional Coach for the Portsmouth School Department. She works with both elementary schools and the middle school with science education, STEAM programs, and agriculture.

The second speaker, Sara Churgin, is the District Manager for the Eastern RI Conservation District (ERICD), which provides direct assistance to individual Newport and Bristol County landowners and municipalities on natural-resource issues of concern.

With both speakers so dedicated to the service and education in communities, Margie Brennan and Sara Churgin will bring exciting, positive, and insightful industry knowledge.

Through featured speaking events and educational programs like these, students will have a new opportunity to develop a better understanding of their own coastal environment by getting outside. This is why COA is launching a three-part series — virtual speaking series, community field visits, and in-class learning opportunities — to provide local school systems with the necessary educational tools needed to encourage positive environmental habits.

Join COA at the Barrington Farm School on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. for a look into innovative agricultural practices.

Barrington Farm School was founded in 2015 to teach students of all ages about food, farming, and the environment. Its mission is to grow food, promote equitable food justice, build community, and foster connection to the land with the support of volunteers, making them the ultimate partner in creating positive environmental changes among generations to come.
