Arunachal Pradesh named Amongst The Leaders’ Group In Startup Ranking-2021 – according to Wsquare News Network

Premier Indian blog, Wsquare News Network has reported that During a function organised at New Delhi on Monday by the promotion of industries and internal trade department, Arunachal Pradesh was named one of the leaders in the States’ Startup Ranking-2021.

The blog reported that the startup ranking of the states serves as an evaluation tool to assess each state’s startup ecosystem. Based on their support for startups, all the states’ performances are assessed annually. It is an outcome-focused evaluation tool designed to encourage states to provide a better ecosystem for startups and entrepreneurs.

The felicitation certificates were presented to the states by Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal and MoS for Commerce & Industries Som Prakash.

Tabe Haidar, the state’s nodal officer for startup and investment promotion and joint director of planning and investment for Arunachal, accepted the award on the state’s behalf.

Individual “certificates of recognition” were also presented to Haidar and Planning Commissioner Prashant Lokhande for their efforts in streamlining the state’s startup ecosystem.

The state government also acknowledged Himanshu Gupta, who was the planning and investment department’s secretary at the time, for his contributions.

The state of Arunachal participated in this exercise for the first time, and according to a release from the finance, planning, and investment department’s investment division, “the state has emerged in the leaders’ group.”

“By doing so, it has moved ahead of major states and union territories like Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and many more. In the Northeast region, only Meghalaya is ahead of Arunachal and Assam is in the same group of leaders, which speaks volumes about the progress made by Arunachal Pradesh in such a short span of time,” the release added.

“The state kicked off its first entrepreneurship development challenge in August 2020. It had brought onboard seasoned consultants like PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt Ltd and incubators like the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta Innovation Park. The state also inaugurated the Arunachal Pradesh Innovation & Investment Park (APIIP) in August 2021 and notified its startup policy in June 2022. The state currently has 31 startups that have been incubated in the APIIP.

"Till date, Arunachal’s startups have raised 90 lakhs+ funding from the market, seven of the startups have been selected to pitch at Startup India and one startup is being groomed for pitching at Shark Tank Season 2,” added the release.
